This area is covered by Protocol 31 to the EEA Agreement and falls under Subcommittee IV.

The EFTA Working Group on the Disabled, Elderly and Social Exclusion deals with matters related to the social policy agenda of the European Union, and monitors in particular the social inclusion and anti-discrimination parts of the European Programme for Employment and Social Solidarity, Progress 2007-2013, in which the EEA EFTA States participate.

The Working Group monitored EEA EFTA participation in the European Year of Equal Opportunities for All 2007, and in the European Year to Fight Poverty and Exclusion 2010.
